Academic Coaching Services (ACS) Foundation, Inc. is dedicated to providing financial assistance for supplemental, academic preparation to Nevada students who seek admissions to selective colleges and universities or university honors programs throughout the nation.
Rationale:
The rising costs of attending colleges, universities, or honors programs, creates an increasing burden for local students and families. As a result, the best and brightest students in our community may lose opportunities to pursue the top-tier education for which they have prepared if they are not adequately supported before and during the selective college admissions process. This situation is especially true for lower income, first-generation, or underserved families who may not have the access or financial resources for academic enrichment and individualized college coaching. Supplemental academic preparation for achievement on the PSAT, SAT, ACT, tutoring for advanced courses in Calculus, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Literature, History, and Philosophy and support with college admissions and scholarship essays must be provided to well-deserving, qualified, low-income students to enhance their opportunities for college success.
Program:
ACS Foundation, partnered with the Alexander Dawson Foundtaion/Dawson College Bound, awards scholarships to high achieving Nevada students who need financial assistance to complete rigorous academic enrichment activities (tutoring, test prep courses, college counseling) and to improve their eligibility for selective college or honors program consideration. National Merit Semi-finalist distinction is one of the primary goals of this scholarship program. Additionally, ACS Foundation support may be provided to fund educational expenses associated with preparing and submitting applications to selective colleges or programs (i.e. school visits, summer enrichment programs, travel, etc).
Foundation Goals:
The current goals of ACS Foundation are:
- To directly impact the academic opportunities for Nevada’s highest achieving, lower income or first-generation students.
- To provide community and business leaders and families the philanthropic opportunity to directly affect the lives of local students through higher education.
- To increase annually the number of scholarships awarded to students for college preparation activities through the generosity of the community.
Contributions:
The ACS Foundation, a 501(c) 3 organization, welcomes your philanthropic gifts directly to our scholarship endowment or service donations to further the foundation’s goals and activities. All accepted gifts are tax deductible as permitted by IRS regulations.
